Ski Track

Ski Track - task management and collaboration app

Features

Ski Track comes packed with features that help you organize your work smarter. Some of the features are almost invisible to you on the outside but they will make organizing your work tremendously smoother. All Ski Track accounts come with these great features and it does not matter which plan you choose.

  • GTD-like task lists

As an essential core of Ski Track, you can create task lists, add task descriptions, estimates and assign them to anyone on your team. Ski Track uses a GTD-like approach where the order of tasks defines the priorities of these tasks.

There is no separate "Priority" parameter because what happens when you have a list of tasks and each task having a "Priority" setting, you really end up with multiple lists of tasks and you have to figure out which of the "Most Important" tasks are more important than the others with the same priority. With our GTD-like approach, there is just one list of tasks that everyone can start executing from top to bottom. Simple, clear and human.

  • Project management

Ski Track lets you create projects that consist of multiple tasks with ease. Tasks can also be added to projects on the go later on.

  • Email notifications

Ski Track can automatically sends email notifications upon new tasks assigned to you, or upon new comments are added to the tasks assigned to you, or upon new comments in projects you are a follower of.

  • Drag to reorder

Given there is only one task-list you are working with, the order of the tasks is most important. You can reorder tasks in your task-list with a snap in Ski Track.

  • Attachments

You can attach large images or files of any to tasks for others to see and download. Others can view images with a preview, and download.

Based on the plan you're using with Ski Track, you can store attachments up to 100 GB. You can also add multiple attachments at a time.

  • Tracks

Tracks are central part of Ski Track. A track is a chain of tasks that depend on each other in an order of desired execution.

Here's an example — you need to update some information on your company’s website. For this you will need the copywriter to write some texts, a designer to design it, coder to build the actual HTML, someone to test it, and someone to actually put it up.

You will create 5 tasks — one for each step, and let people execute these tasks in a sequence, one-by-one. For this you will add these tasks onto a track. After you do this, the designer will only see that he needs to design something after the copywriter has worked on the texts, the coder will not get confused about having to code something that’s not been designed yet, and so on.

You as a project manager basically generate a flow of commands/tasks, and then hit a magical “Start” button. And your job is only to check how are things going, because the moment the copywriter finishes the copy, the designer will receive a notification about a new task, and so on. Sounds logical?

  • Automated ETA calculation (alpha)

Whenever you shuffle tasks around within a project or within your own task list, Ski Track re-calculates when certain tasks are most likely to be finished. We do this by using the track record of the users and bear in mind the regular working hours. By doing this, Ski Track can estimate when certain projects that consist of multiple tasks that are tackled by multiple people are likely to be finished. The algorithms we use to calculate these estimates are still to be improved.

  • Followers

You can follow tasks and projects in Ski Track. It as simple as in Twitter – when you follow a task or a project, you will receive updates about that task or project in the "Updates" section as well as notifications via e-mail.

  • Growl notifications

When you're using Mac OS X and have Growl installed, you will receive notifications about new tasks assigned to you.
